How to Unpair and Reset an Apple Watch

How to Reset an Apple Watch

You may be forced to reset and unpair the Apple Watch in some cases where the watch is buggy, delete all your personal data, you’re giving it to someone, you’re going to sell it, or just simply you want to start from scratch.

Important notes to consider before resting an Apple Watch

  1. Wipe all your personal data including messages, music, data, settings and everything else
  2. Requires you to unpair the Apple Watch before proceeding
  3. After resetting, the watch needs to be reconnected to the data plan which requires the support from a network provider (For Apple Watch Series 3 or 4 with cellular)
  4. Resetting the Apple Watch will not cancel any data plan from your network provider. You must do it manually by contacting them.

There are two methods of resetting the Apple watch,

  1. From the Apple Watch
  2. From the iPhone

How to Reset the Apple Watch from the Watch

This method will erase all the content from the watch and turns it to the factory settings. However, this won’t unpair the watch from your Apple account. Don’t use this method if you’re going to sell it because this will block any other Apple account from connecting to this watch.
